The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) is set to hold its inaugural sitting on Wednesday, 08th May 2019.
The Punch correspondence confirmed the sitting to be convened on Wednesday as the notice of the sitting has already been served to both parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday.
Those identified to have been served through their Lawyers are, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2019 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
It was also revealed that a five-man panel that is set to hear the PDP and Atiku’s joint petition will be lead by the court of Appeal President.
Accordingly, the tribunal has other three petitions instituted by other political parties.
The tribunal, during the pre-hearing session as the Electoral Act stipulates must be rounded up within 14 days, fix “clear dates” for the hearing of the petition.
The five-man tribunal has only 180 days’ to hear and deliver judgement from the date which the petition was filled i.e March 18 a case which the petitioners claimed to have assembled over 400 witnesses to testify.
