The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Usman Baba Alkali along with his management team, paid a courtesy visit to a former IGP, Solomon Arase the newly appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC). Both parties met on Monday in the PSC conference room at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja to discuss ways to enhance the mutual relationship between the NPF and PSC, as well as develop new strategies for stronger collaboration.
Recall that vigil360news reported that President Muhammadu Buhari swore in Arase on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, after confirmation from the Senate.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the IGP said, “I am at the Police Service Commission to congratulate the assumption to office of the new chairman, IGP Solomon Arase (Rtd.).
“When there is proper leadership, guidance, sense of direction, discipline, promotion, appointment, people will be motivated to do the right thing.”
According to reports, Arase disclosed that a committee consisting of members from both organizations would be established to address the recurring misunderstanding between the NPF and PSC over recruitment into the police.
