The earlier resumption date announced for the Abuja-Kaduna train services by the Ministry of Transportation has been suspended indefinitely. The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo made this known during his tour of inspection to assess the redness of the rail services before a proper announcement could be made. Making a comment he said, it could be more than a week contrary to the earlier announced date of, 28th November 2022 as the official resumption date of the services the Minister added.
The Minister explained, “The federal government has introduced a new system of purchasing tickets, it is the beginning of security checks that will enable the government to ascertain who boards the train at every point in time.”
The services of the Abuja-Kaduna train were suspended since March 28th, 2022 when the train came under attack from the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP terrorists where many lives were lost during the incident.
During the incident, nine (9) passengers lost their lives while sixty (60) others were abducted only to be released after spending more than six months in captivity.
