Gunmen Attack Hospital In Niger, Kills Two

Armed hoodlums have reportedly attacked Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital, in the process killing two persons in Gulu, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, it was also revealed that the gunmen abducted over ten persons including a medical doctor and a pharmacist.
The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of 18th October 2022, one of those killed in the act is retired medical personnel known as Ya-Tachi who lived opposite the hospital. According to eyewitnesses, it was said that the gunmen stormed in their numbers while shooting sporadically without confrontation from either security operatives or vigilantes while carrying out their operation.

It is said that this is the fourth time kidnappers have been attacking different communities within the area. The situation has gripped fear among residents of the North-Central state that have asked the government to beef up security in the area.

The incident has further heightened tension among the villagers, particularly with the lack of presence of both security agents and local vigilantes during the attack.

However, efforts to get the reaction of the State Police command failed as the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
