Bandits Abduct Councillor, Eight Others In Sokoto

Notorious Bandits have attacked Yar Tsakuwa village, in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, kidnapping nine persons, including the serving councillor of the area, Lawali Bello. According to DailyTrust, two wives and a daughter of the former councillor of the area, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba, were among those kidnapped. A resident, Nazifi Abdullahi, revealed that the bandits stormed the area around midnight on Saturday and operated till 2:50am.

They reportedly ransacked houses and shops including medical stores, dispossessing people of their belongings.

Abdullahi said, the bandits stole several motorcycles, food stuff and assorted drugs.

He added that they kidnapped more than 20 persons but released others while returning to their hideouts.

“But nine persons are currently with them, including our serving councillor and wives and daughter of our former councillor,” he said.

He revealed that the councillor had left the village because of incessant attacks, adding that the wives and the daughter were in the village to attend the naming ceremony of their newborn grandson.

Abdullahi said the bandits shot and injured one person, who was taken to Talata Mafara General Hospital in Zamfara State for treatment.
