Bandits have murdered a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rilwanu Aminu Gadagau, representing Giwa West Constituency, and abducted many others along the kaduna-Zaria highway. According to reports, Gadagau was killed on Monday night by the assailants who attacked travellers along the road. His lifeless body was later discovered on Wednesday morning. He was the vice Chairman of Giwa Local Government Area before his selection into the House of Assembly in 2019.
Mr Gadagau was the second lawmaker to be killed by suspected bandits in the troubled North-west region in the last six months. Speaker of the Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, while confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday described it as devastating.

The statement noted that the remains of the lawmaker was discovered in a morgue on Wednesday, among those killed by bandits on Monday night along the kaduna-Zaria highway.

“This is tragic and painful. We are in deep grief over this sad incident,” the statement read in part.

“Our prayers at this time go to his immediate family. Honourable Gadagau was a young and dynamic lawmaker, who had a passion for his constituency, state and Nigeria. We will miss his vibrant contributions.

Our heart also go out to those kidnapped in the same operation, believing that they would be rescued by security operatives as soon as possible.”
