The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and Chairman, National Judicial Council (NJC), Justice Tanko Muhammad, has summoned the Chief Judges of six states which are Rivers, Cross River, Anambra, Imo, Kebbi, and Jigawa states.
The summons was issued on Monday by the CJN in his capacity as the Chairman of NJC.
The six Chief Judges were summoned by the CJN over their conflicting orders regarding cases on disputes in some political parties.
The summons reads in part: “My attention has been drawn to media reports to the effect that some Courts of coordinate jurisdiction were granting conflicting ex-parte order on the same subject matter.”
“It has become expedient for me to invite you for a detailed briefing on the development. This is even more compelling, having regard to earlier NJC warning to judicial officers on the need to be circumspect in granting ex parte applications.”
According to reports, the summoned judges will meet with the CJN sometime this week before their appearance before the NJC.
