Five Worshippers Killed, Imam Kidnapped In Zamfara

The police command in zamfara state have confirmed the deadly attack on a mosque wherein no fewer than five worshippers were murdered. The attack which occurred in a farming community within Kanoma District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state, saw about 18 persons being kidnapped. The bandits stormed a Jumaat Mosque, on Friday at Dutse Gari, a farming and whisked away the Imam and some worshippers. The police spokesperson Mohammed Shehu speaking on the incident emphasized that efforts are underway to apprehend perpetrators of the senseless act.

The assailants also murdered some members of the community during the unfortunate incidence.

Shehu said 18 persons were kidnapped during the attack while efforts are being made to rescue them. The attackers waiting till worshippers were seated and listening to the sermon from the Imam before they invaded the worship centre.

Reactions trail the incessant attacks on innocent Nigerians by concerned citizens who are calling the situation a major security concern, which requires the deployment of all available resources in order to tackle the menace.
