Mastermind Of Nyanya Bombing and Kuje Jail Break Arrested

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has successfully arrested one of the most wanted suspect in the country; Umar Abdulmalik. The suspect was described as a Boko Haram Commander who was involved in a series of attacks in Abuja and its environs.

 

The suspect was arrested on 20th December 2018 by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Lagos after evading attempted arrest by the Police in Abuja.

According to the Police, Abdulmalik is one of the most deadly and wanted Boko Haram leader/Bank robber/Assassin and Explosive expert in Abuja and is said to be the mastermind of the Kuje and Abuja’s Nyanya bombings of 2015. He is also said to be the gang-leader of Galadimawa roundabout attack where 7 police Officers were killing, Lugbe Police Officers killer, Gwagwalada area Police killings which took place all in Abuja.

He is also said to be the overall Commander of Edo and Ondo States’ multiple bank robberies and several killings in Okene Axis of Kogi. It was also reported that Abdulmalik was the commander of the attack and rescue operations of the prison in Niger State early this year where he lost one of his eyes during the operation which led to the escape of over 100 Prisoners.

The suspect was arrested by the IRT Special team today after he escaped with bullet wounds from Abuja three weeks ago when IRT teams arrested four of his gang members and recovered four (4) AK47 rifles and hundreds of ammunition.

It can be recalled that on 14th April, 2014 the busy NyanNya park/market was hit by a heavy explosion in which about 74 were killed. Four weeks after the attacked, on 13th April, 2014 Department of State Services (DSS) disclosed in a press conference the arrest of five of the suspects involved in the attacked. Their identities were revealed as; Ahmad Rufa'i Abubakar alias Abu Ibrahim Maiturare, Muhammadu Sani Ishaq, Ya'u Saidu alias Kotar Rama, Anas Isah and Adamu Yusuf.

The DSS further declared two persons wanted as being the mastermind of the NyanNya bombing. Those declared wanted are; Rufa'i Abubakar Tsiga and Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, an army deserter and son of a retired Nigerian Army Officer.
