Labour Union Suspends Protest After Meeting With President Tinubu

After a nationwide protest the Organised Labour has suspended its national protest and has stay action after holding a meeting with president Tinubu yesterday at the state House, Abuja. This was contained in statement issued by the Presidential spokesperson on communication, Media and strategies, Dele Alake. The leaders of the organised labour, Joe Ajero for the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and his counter pert for Trade Union Congress, TUC, Festus Osifo were at the presidential villa, Abuja where they have agreed to stop the protest after president Tinubu made some promises.

IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu Loses Appeal Against UK Govt Over his Continued Detention

The leader of the proscribed indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has lost an appeal in a legal battle that he took against the United Kingdom, UK, government following his continued incarceration by the Nigerian authority. The separatist leader is a holder of a dual citizenship, meaning he is a Nigerian native and a UK citizen by naturalization. Kanu had last year approached the court of the UK demanding that being a citizen; the UK government should intervene into his matter through the UK embassy in Nigeria to facilitate his release by the Nigerian authority.

NLC Protest: IGP Warn Protesters Against Violence

The Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, following the protest by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, against the removal of subsidy by the president Tinubu administration has warned the group against violent protest. The Labour Union had in the last three weeks been mobilising its affiliate members across the country to mobilise its workers for a mass protest on 2nd August, 2023 against the hardship inflicted by the removal of fuel subsidy on the Nigerian masses.
