National Assembly Proposes Four Month Ban for Unruly VIPs at Airports

The Nigerian Senate yesterday implored aviation authorities to blacklist Very Important Persons (VIPs) that are violating the COVID-19 safety and security protocol at the airports by prescribing a four-month ban for such offenders. The red chamber also recommended that such violators should be exposed publicly to serve as a deterrent to others. The development is coming on the heels of an earlier declaration by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) that it would not be deterred in implementing its Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the success of its security and public health protocol in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Security: FCTA Activates More Police Formations

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has activated additional Police formations to beef up security in Abuja. The Honourable Minister of FCT, Mohammad Bello made this disclosure when he hosted the six Area Council Chairmen on Friday.

Nigeria's First Female Combat Pilot Dies At Age 23

Nigeria has suffered a great loss following the death of its first female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer, Tolulope Arotile, on Tuesday. Late Arotile's death came barely a year after she was winged as a combat helicopter pilot in the Air Force following the completion of her training courses at the Starlite International Training Academy, South Africa.

In a bid to achieve greater professional efficiency, the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai has approved the appointments and redeployment of 37 generals and colonels to different formations and units with effect from July 20, 2020.This was disclosed by Sagir Musa, the Acting Director, Public Relations on Tuesday in a statement in Abuja, saying the shake-up was in line with the routine exercise aimed at reinvigorating the system. The posting and appointments include Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor from Defence Headquarters Department of Training and Operations to Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Minna as Commander.
