President Muhammadu Buhari has advocated for the restructuring of the ECOWAS, saying the African Organisation needs to operate its management to reflect current realities. Buhari made this call during the 58th virtual ordinary session held in Abuja with Heads of States and Government of ECOWAS.

Oyo Insecurity: Governor Seyi Makinde Directs Police To Arrest Sunday Igboho For Defying His Orders

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has directed the police to arrest Sunday Igboho and others causing tension in the state. On Friday, Igboho went to Igangan to restate his ultimatum to Fulanis to leave. Makinde consequently declared that his government would not allow anyone hiding under the guise of protecting Yoruba interests to cause ethnic tension and perpetrate crisis. Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho, attacked a Fulani settlement in the town. It was a black Friday at Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State as hundreds of residents led by Yoruba nation ‘agitator’. Mr. Adeyemo had earlier issued an ultimatum to Fulani community in the Ibarapa axis of the state to vacate the area or produce the suspected kidnappers and murderers among the Fulani.

Kidnapped Former Bauchi Lawmaker Ningi, Regains Freedom

A former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Ningi Constituency, Abdulmumuni Ningi, who was kidnapped on Thursday, January, 15 around 8:00 pm within Bauchi metropolis, has regained his freedom. A family member, who spoke to journalists in a telephone interview, confirmed that Ningi had been released and had returned home to his family. He said the victim was released on Wednesday evening and got back home about 11 pm.

Insecurity: Cleric Calls On Northern Elders To Embrace Sheikh Gumi's Peace Initiative

Northern Christian leaders have applauded the peace initiative initiated by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi in negotiating with the Fulani herdsmen leaders to prevail on their subject for the stability of peace in the north. The General overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Kaduna, Pastor Yunana Buru, revealed that it was a welcome idea what Dr Sheikh Mahmud Gumi for mobilising and enlightening the Fulani’s on the need to be peaceful in the southern Kaduna that was ravaged by insecurity in recent time. The cleric said only God would reward sheikh Gumi for the giant stride and for dedicating his time and energy in meeting the Fulani’s in their enclave and preaching words of peace to them while encouraging them the importance of acquiring knowledge of both modern and Islamic while rearing their cattle in the forest.
