Police Arrest Notorious Bandit In Charge Of Four Forests In Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara has arrested a notorious bandit commander Bello Ruga, who was in charge of four forests in Zamfara state. The forests include those in Gummi, Gidan Bita, Malankare, and Kagara forest in Gummi LGA of the state. Ayuba Elkanah, commissioner of Police in Zamfara disclosed the above on Saturday while parading the suspected crime kingpin alongside 21 other suspected bandits and their collaborators in Gusau. He said five other bandits were neutralized during a raid in Gummi LGA of the state. “On October 1, 2021, police tactical operatives on anti-banditry operation around Gummi axis, acted on intelligence report, stormed Gidan Bita, Malakar and Kagara forest, and arrested one notorious bandits’ commander, Bello Rugga,” the statement reads. “The suspect who happens to be a commander to a wanted bandits gang leader, popularly known as Turji. “Rugga was in charge of Gummi, Gidan Bita, Malanjara and Kagara forest in Gummi LGA of the state. “He has coordinated series of attacks in the area that led to the unwarranted killings of innocent people and kidnapping of many others for ransom.”

It was also disclosed that the suspect who has many bandits under him also is in possession of AK 47 rifles.

“All Keke Napep (tricycles) putting additional curtain to cover passengers is banned. The suspension of communication networks in the 13 LGAs is still in force with the exception of Gusau metropolis,” he said.

Elkana also announced that all vehicles with unauthorized tinted glass should be immediately removed.

Similarly, the Police Command in Delta has arrested one Solomon Ebe over alleged possession of 340 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition concealed inside a bag of garri. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Warri.
