Activities at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) were grounded in the early hour of Monday as contract staff protested non-payment of their six month salaries.

The aggrieved workers blocked the main gate leading into the hospital demanding for their unpaid salaries.

The visibly aggrieved workers comprise of cleaners, security and porters from the entire hospital.

Most of the protesters carried placards with different inscriptions, "pay us our money, are we not Nigerians, some of us are widows, our children are out of school"

The development built heavy gridlock on Gwagwalada Dobi, connecting the hospital with the main town as both doctors and patients were stranded outside
