Secret Service agents moved US President Joe Biden to safety after a drunk driver crashed into a parked SUV that was part of his motorcade on Sunday night in Wilmington, Delaware. The incident did not result in any injuries. The driver, 46-year-old James Cooper, has been arrested by police on charges of inattentive driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Biden and First Lady Jill Biden had just left his campaign headquarters after a meal with members of his re-election team when the collision occurred.

Television footage showed Secret Service agents escorting Biden to his car after the impact.

The silver sedan, which sustained damage to its bumper, was quickly surrounded by security officers after it stopped. Agents cornered the car and pulled weapons on the driver, who held his hands up.

"There was no protective interest associated with this event and the president's motorcade departed without incident," Secret Service spokesperson special agent Steve Kopek said in a statement.
