Russian Ambassador to the European Union (EU), Vladimir Chizhov has kicked against the United States warning of response that Russia is attacking Ukraine today Wednesday amidst a tense situation in the country. This statement was lifted from a German daily, Die Welt, of today where Chizhov made this remarks. The envoy also debunked eminent attack as alleged by the United States of America on Ukraine.
As contained in the statement, Chizhov said, “As far as Russia is concerned, I can assure you that there will be no attack this Wednesday. There will be no escalation in the coming week either, in the week after that, or in the coming month.
“Wars in Europe rarely start on a Wednesday,” he added.
Chizhov described the United States statement as slender, saying “When you make allegations – especially very serious allegations against Russia – you also have a responsibility to present evidence.
Though he disclosed wars in Europe hardly start on Wednesdays.
He called on the west to also consider Russian security as the topmost priority, explaining, “When our partners finally listen to our legitimate concerns, a process of detente will not be long in coming.
The envoy added, “That would be in the interest of all Europeans from Lisbon to Vladivostok, but also of all other nations in the world,”
Meanwhile, the United States alleges that Russia is preparing to attack Ukraine possible before the closing of the winter Olympics in China on Sunday.
US and its NATO allies disclosed that Russia was preparing a renewed hostility in Ukraine following the 2014 annexation of Crimea, the allegation Russia has continued to deny.
