At least a total of 58 people are likely dead or missing, presumed dead, in the awake of the fire which engulfed the London Grenfell Tower block earlier this week. The Metropolitan Police Commander, Stuart Cundy said the force knows 58 people were in the tower block on the night of the disaster, the police said today.

Former Chancellor Helmut Kohl, the architect of Germany's 1990 reunification and mentor to Angela Merkel, has died at age 87, his Christian Democratic Union party (CDU) said on Friday. He was aged 87. Kohl served as chancellor for 16 years -- from 1982 to 1998 -- and was Germany's longest-serving leader since 1945. He worked tirelessly for the reunification of West and East Germany, in the post-war era.

Prime Minister Theresa May is yet to seal a deal to take off with her minority government, as she faces calls to soften her stance on Brexit days before negotiations with EU is to begin. May’s team will resume talks with Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) on a deal to secure their support in parliament after she failed to win an outright majority in the June 8 election.
