Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema has revealed he will not be hosting or performing in any show until 2024 to concentrate more on his health, as he has been trying to manage his health initially and struggle to take to the stage for fans but unable to do so now as his workload has taken a huge toll on him due to negligence in the first stage. The Edo state-born singer made this known in a post on his Instagram story on Wednesday, 29th November 2023, stating that after years of ignoring his health due to continuous touring, he needs time to recuperate.
His statement read, “breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December, been years of touring I’ve ignored my health and I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again. love.”
This announcement comes as a disappointment to fans who were eagerly anticipating his performances, especially during the popular Detty December events. However, the health and well-being of the artist take precedence.
The calm-down crooner decision affects his planned homecoming tour, which includes stops in Abuja, Lagos, and his native Benin. He was also scheduled to perform at the Hey Neighbor Music Festival in South Africa from December 8 to 10.
Despite this setback, Rema has had a remarkable year with notable achievements.
