Port Harcourt-Aba Train Service Set To Commence Operations

The Federal Government (FG) through the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) announced that the Port Harcourt to Aba train service is set to commence operation by the end of March 2024. This was made known by the Managing Director of NRC, Fidet Okhiria during an inspection tour of the facility in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.


He said, “Despite resource challenges, the contractors are doing their best, and our goal is to achieve this within the next 2 weeks.

“With this, we aim to commence passenger train services, hopefully within March and fully resume transporting people from Port Harcourt to Aba by the end of March.”

He also disclosed that there plans to link the Onne Port in Port Harcourt to the rails for the fluid movement of goods to Aba, Umuahia and Enugu.
