Saraki Seeks Improved Trade Relations Between Nigeria And Russia
The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has commenced negotiations for improved trade relations between Nigeria and Russia, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Saraki said the relationship between the two countries was nowhere close to where it should be, adding that there was need for improvement to increase trade volume.

Discos Paid Only N9.6bn Out Of 42bn July Energy Bill – NBET
The Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) said the 11 Distribution Companies (DisCos) only paid N9.6 billion for energy invoice of N41.96 billion supplied to them in July 2017, leaving a deficit of N32.3bn.
In its routine market payment update published yesterday, NBET said 3,907 megawatts hour (mwh) of electricity was generated in July while 3,646 mwh was produced in June.
Nigeria Records 458,986 Increase In Active Telecoms Subscribers
Active users of the services and products of Nigeria’s telecommunications networks increased by 458,986 in September, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said.
The telecommunications industry regulator made this known in its monthly subscriber/operator data, made available on its website on Tuesday.

Banks will soon crack down on customer’s accounts following new directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday, on Bank Verification Number (BVN) operations and watch-list for the banking industry.
Records from the NIBSS show that there were about 45.85 million total bank accounts unlinked, but when compared with the active accounts the number dropped to 15.72 million unlinked to BVN as of February 2017.
Oil Jumps On Fears Of New Iran Sanctions
Oil markets jumped on Monday following concerns over potential renewed U.S. sanctions against Iran as well as conflict in Iraq, while a falling U.S. rig count supported prices there. Reuters news agency reports that brent crude futures LCOc1, the international benchmark for oil prices, were at $57.82 at 0156 GMT, up 65 cents, or 1.1 percent, from the previous close.
