A new report finds flourishing tourism in Africa is putting millions of people to work and adding billions of dollars to national economies. Africa has been reported to have recorded robust growth with international tourist arrivals and tourism revenues growing at 6 percent and 9 percent respectively each year between 1995 and 2014, over the last two decades.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) yesterday announced the implementation of a new inward and outward security arrangement across all airports in the country. This is in line with the recent Executive Order signed by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to sanitize operations at air and sea ports across the country.

The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo yesterday signed the 4th Executive Order (EO) on Tax Amnesty during the flag off of a time bound Volunteering Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to encourage tax payers regularize their taxes during the new tax regime in the country.

Oil price in the international market went up slightly by 1 percent hitting a two-week high on Thursday. Prices have been going down owing to U.S. crude production temporarily alleviated concerns about deepening oversupply.
Brent crude added 30 cents, or 0.6 percent, to close at $47.61 a barrel.

The gesture which will take care an estimated 371, 000 IDPS is to complement government’s humanitarian interventions.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has disclosed that vandalism of oil infrastructure particularly in the Niger Delta has been reduced by 12.77% in April 2017. The Corporation made this known in it April NNPC Financial and Operations report released yesterday at the NNPC Towers Abuja and subsequently uploaded on the corporation's website.

The Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) in line with measures geared implementing the Executive Order issued by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on ease of doing business; the NPA ordered the streamlining government agencies at the ports.

The African Development Bank (AFDB) has concluded plans to deploy over $20B to fight the drought-related crisis and boost food production in Nigeria, South Sudan, Kenya and Somalia. The President of AFDB, Akinwumi Adesina who made the disclosure in a statement ahead of World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought lamented that about 20 million people were facing food insecurity and malnutrition across drought-affected areas including Nigeria and Somalia.

Naira Gains Against the Dollar

Reports indicate that further intervention by the Federal Government in the Foreign Exchange Market has continued to yield positive results as the Naira appreciated by 2.13% at the parallel market on Thursday to close at 374 against the United States Dollars. However, at the official market, the Naira appreciated by about 0.2% to close at 305 to the US Dollars
