The Nigerian government has urged Canadian authorities to remove stringent conditions preventing Nigerians from easily procuring Canadian visas. The appeal was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola when the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, James Christoff paid him a courtesy visit.

Christoff assured the Minister that the Canadian government would review some of its visa conditions so that Nigerians can travel to Canada without much difficulty.

Christoff further disclosed that the purpose of his visit was to promote bilateral cooperation between the two nations in the areas of security, economy, technology, education, and training of immigration officers in order to ensure efficient monitoring of Nigeria’s borders.

Aregbesola stated that Canada should aid Nigeria by sharing technological innovations which will improve monitoring movements at Nigeria’s land and sea borders to enable quick response on security-related issues.
