President Buhari Seeks Senate Confirmation Of Minister Of Power, INEC Commissioners, Others

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Mr Muazu Sambo to replace the former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman. President Buhari asked for the senate’s confirmation in a letter which was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan at the commencement of plenary on Tuesday. President Buhari is also seeking the senate’s confirmation of six National Commissioners and a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replace the outgoing commissioners.


The nominees for National Commissioners of INEC include Malam Mohammed Haruna (North-Central), Okeagu Kenneth Nnamdi (South-East), Maj. Gen. A. B. Alkali (Rtd) (North-East), Prof. Rada Gumus (South-South), Mr Sam Olumeku (South-West), and Mrs May Agbamuche (Delta State).

Mr Olaniyi Olaleye Ijalaye was nominated as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).

President Buhari also nominated some commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC) for confirmation by the senate.

The nominees are Mr Benedict Opong, Dr Bala Haliru, Dr Iyatayo Oyetunbi, Mrs Gloria Izofor, and Barr. Mrs. Patricia Kuchi.
