Manchester United striker, Gabriel Jesus has reportedly rejected a new £90,000-a-week deal and postponed further talks with the club until after the 2018 World Cup, billed to be hosted by Russia. According to Daily Mail, City chiefs were keen to tie the Brazilian striker down to a new contract before he left to compete with his country in Russia but negotiations stalled and his representatives have withdrawn from talks until the summer.
The report said Jesus currently earns in the region of £65,000-a-week but his representatives were unimpressed by City’s offer of £90,000, which would run until 2023.
The report further said Jesus' representatives are holding out for more than £100,000-a-week for the same time frame but all parties have agreed to put talks on ice for now, according to the Daily Mail.
Jesus’ current deal runs until 2022 so there’s no major rush for a new contract to be signed and there’s no fears over the 20-year-old leaving the club this summer.
Although Jesus has struggled with a knee issue in 2018, City are still keen to reward him for a fast start to life in English football and a compromise is set to be found between all parties once talks reopen at the end of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
