CBN Deputy Governors: President Buhari Nominates Adamu, Ahmad

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate, seeking the re-confirmation of Aisha Ahmad and Edward Adamu to serve for a 2nd and final term as deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The President’s request was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate and read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan during Tuesday’s plenary.


According to the letter, President Buhari stated that the request was in accordance with Section 8(1) (2) of the CBN (Establishment) Act, 2007.

President Buhari appointed Aisha Ahmad as the apex bank’s deputy governor in charge of Financial System Stability on 23rd March 2018 while Edward Adamu was also 1st appointed CBN deputy governor on 23rd March 2018.

Both nominees have more than 20 years of work experience in the banking sector and also served in several positions in the CBN.
