The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has condemned the recent ambush, attack and abduction of soldiers and civilians in the Lake Chad Basin Frontier Exploration.  The Acting President who stated this on Sunday in a series of tweets, directed the Nigerian Military to intensify search and rescue operation in the area.

The Acting President's order is coming after Boko Haram released a short video of some of the abductees appealing to the government to urgently meet the demands of the sect to secure their release. The victims disclosed that their location could be difficult to access and warned against possible military actions intended to secure their rescue.

Recall that last week Boko Haram reportedly ambushed and killed a team of oil explorers drawn from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), University of Maiduguri, Soldiers and CJTF among others.

Although the Military had claimed that a coordinated security operation was launched to secure the release of the abductees, it has released a fresh statement retracting same.

Meanwhile, the government has suspended further exploration activities at the Lake Chad Basin.
