President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha, on Monday hailed the President noting that he ‘deserves some accolades’ after the bilateral meeting with the United States’ President Donald Trump.

Using her official and Twitter handle, @aishambuhari, she posted the message and shared pictures of President Buhari’s meeting with the U.S. President at the White House in Washington DC.

The pictures included where Buhari was signing the visitors’ register with Trump looking on, where both leaders were shaking hands and another one depicting the two Presidents and members of their teams.

The “you deserve some accolades” remark became a hilarious social media movement after Nollywood actor, Charles Okocha, aka Igwe Tupac released the now famous “Accolades” video late April.

In the video, the actor is seen running around and shouting on passersby to give him some accolades because according to him, he had paid his dues.

Presidents Buhari and Trump during the meeting discussed various issues including security, tackling terrorism, improving business relations between both countries, among others.

Trump during the meeting also hailed Buhari for fighting corruption and terrorism in Nigeria.

“Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption. I also know that the President (Buhari) has been able to cut that down very substantially. We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress,” Trump said on Monday after their bilateral meeting at the White House.

Mrs Buhari’s Tweet has since generated mixed reactions with some praising the president’s performance at the press briefing and others expressing disapproval.
