Imo Guber: Over N54m Campaign Billboard Fee- ADP Candidate, Nwoga Kicks

Kachi Nwoga, the Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has bemoaned the Imo State government stance for placing the sum of N54 million on political campaign billboards ahead of the 11th November, 2023 election. Nwoga, stated this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Abuja. Alleging that, the ruling party in the State is confiscating branded cars of opposition political parties for not having a gubernatorial advert permit.

APC- Atiku: We Have No Plot To Undermine Judiciary

The APC has dismissed an allegation by Atiku Abubakar, People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Presidential Candidate, claiming its plot to intimidate members of the judiciary towards unduly influencing the outcome of pending cases before the court. Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary in a statement on Saturday in the nation's capital, stated that Abubakar and his party offered no evidence to support their allegations that the Feb 25th presidential election was characterized by irregularities.

Katsina State Governor, Dr. Umar Radda has commenced a Treasury Single Account (TSA) in Katsina State. The Governor issued this on Monday in a circular tagged, ‘Treasury Single Account Direction Notice 2023’. Radda said the implementation is effective from 3rd July.

2023 Census: We Spent N200bn In 8 Years For Preparation - NPC

The National Population Commission (NPC) on Friday revealed that the commission had spent no less than N200 billion in preparation for the census in eight years. The NPC’s Director of Public Affairs, Isiaka Yahaya, said the insinuation that the sum was spent in the last few years was erroneous as the commission had been preparing for the census since 2014. He stated this during a press conference in Abuja on Friday. “Yes, it is true that N200bn has been spent on preparations for the 2023 Census so far. However, this fund was not expended in the last few weeks, months or years but rather since 2014 when preparations for the 2023 Census actually began.

FG Assures Nigerians Of Subsidy Benefits

The Chairman, Palliative Committee on Subsidy Removal and Kebbi Governor Dr Nasir Idris, has assured Nigerians that efforts were on to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal. Idris gave the assurance when members of the committee met in Abuja on Saturday. This was contained in a statement by his Spokesman, Ahmed Idris. The meeting had in attendance Governors Baba Mohammed of Bauchi, Charles Soludo of Anambra, Uba Sani of Kaduna and Hyacindu Alia of Benue, as well representatives of the Organised Labour and Civil Society Organisations.

President Tinubu Visits Awujale Of Ijebuland, Alake Of Egba

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday morning arrived Ogun State on separate visits to two prominent traditional rulers in the State. The President will be meeting the Alake of Egba Land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in Abeokuta, the State capital, and the Awujale of Ijebu Land in Ijebu-Ode.
The President’s chopper arrived about 11:00am at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu Ode.

While the former governor of Zamfara, Abdulaziz Yari, is running as the Chief Whip of the ninth Senate, Orji Kalu, is running as deputy. Against the announced time of 10 a.m., the election started before 9 a.m. Sani Tambuwal, the Clerk of the National Assembly, is in the Senate Chamber and is presiding over the session.
