Risola Abiola, the daughter of the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election has commended President Muhammdu Buhari for posthumously awarding the highest honour in the land, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) to her father and declaring June 12 as the new democracy day.

The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali has suggested the establishment of a National Commission on the control of small arms and light weapons to check the rising cases of crisis in some parts of the country. In a statement he issued soon after Tuesday’s Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister said action must be hastened on the establishment of such Commission to check the proliferation of such weapons.

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has taken a swipe at his Ekiti state counterpart, Ayodele Fayose for warning him to steer clear of the forthcoming Ekiti governorship election. The Governor in a statement issued by the Ondo state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Yemi Olowolabi, stated that Akeredolu cannot be intimidated.

Following Wednesday's posthumous award of GCFR to the presumed winner of the June 12 presidential elections held in 1993, MKO Abiola by President Muhammdu Buhari and the declaration of June 12 as Nigeria's future democracy day celebration, the family of Abiola has taken a swipe at former President Olusegun Obasanjo for failing to recognize him, despite being a direct beneficiary of his struggle.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has unveiled a website, www.ndnewvision.gov.ng , for effective communication of President Muhammadu Buhari’s new vision for the Niger Delta. The official unveiling of the website was part of activities marking the 2018 World Environment Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state, Chief Olusegun Oni on Tuesday appealed to his supporters to work for the party's Governorship aspirant, Kayode Fayemi in the interest of the party. His call came following reports of mass defection of his supporters from the APC. The move is coming after Oni lost the governorship ticket of the party to Fayemi in a hotly contested primary.
