After much calling on the federal government by victims of massacre in Jos, Plateau state, Vice President Kashim Shettima has today Wednesday visited the displaced victims of the Christmas Eve attack in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of the State. The presidential jet conveying Shettima landed at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, at exactly 1:00 pm with some government dignitaries waiting.
The vice president arrived plateau state for on-the-spot assessment of communities that were attacked by marauders in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs, of the state.
He was received at the airport by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and former governors Simon Lalong and Joshua Dariye.
Meanwhile on the side of the victims, the visibly aggrieved persons had converged at the mini-stadium in the Bokkos LGA, awaiting the VP’s visit to register their grievances to the government.
At the victims gathering, some of them were holding placards with inscriptions such as ‘Our Human Rights Must Be Protected’, amongst others.
Recall that attacks on Christmas Eve by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs that eventually led to the death of over 110 persons with many injured.
