Following the unabated insecurity in Zamfara state, the state Government has dethroned two Emirs and their district heads for aiding the activities of bandits who engages in terrorizing their communities. The two emirs are that of Zurumi, Abubakar Atku, and Emir of Dansadau, Hussaini Umar. Similarly, the district head of Tsaba, Alhaji Suleiman Ibrahim was also relieved of his turban. The decision taken by the state government was made known through the state commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, which he intimated to newsmen shortly after the state council meeting.
The council after considering recommendations from a six-man white paper inaugurated by the state government to review the report of two separate committees that earlier investigate the level of involvement of the said monarchs in the activities of banditry.
The deposed monarchs were earlier suspended by the state government when it first received allegations of their involvement in banditry activities in their domains.
Contained in the findings of the said committee, the monarchs also abused the land use act in their community which the state government directed to be reversed and all lands illegally allocated.
The commissioner also revealed that the state government has also directed that all land title issued by the sacked traditional rulers is hereby reversed to status co.
He said, “The State Executive Council has also directed the state Ministry of Justice to issue an executive order to back up the council resolution,”
The deposition of the traditional leaders comes 10 months after they were suspended by the state government.
