The Senate has confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of five Commissioners in the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The nominees were confirmed on Wednesday after the consideration of a report by the Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes Committee.
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari stated that President Buhari had withdrawn one of the nominees, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, and was replaced with Olubenga Adeyanju, a retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police.
Other confirmed Commissioners of ICPC were Senator Anthony Agbo, Anne Otefalu Odey, Alhaji Goni Ali Gujba, and Dr. Louis Solomon Mandama.
Kwari said that the nominees gave in-depth answers to the questions asked by the Committee on how they would fulfill the Commission’s mandate.
According to him, there were no security reports or petitions submitted against any of the nominees.
He said, “The Committee after scrutinizing their credentials was satisfied that the nominees have requisite experience, integrity, professional competence and industry to discharge the functions of the position they were nominated”.
