Following months of negotiations, between the government of Borno State, the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and the Department of State Security (DSS), some abducted corps members earlier kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents, have regained freedom.

Receiving the abductees, Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Kadafur stated that the step was in line with the state government’s desire to work with strategic partners to open lines of communication with the insurgents as a means of freeing several non-combatant captives of the terrorist group.

Also, the deputy governor further reiterated that the release of this set of corps members is a sign of the goodwill enjoined by the newly elected Administration in the State and it will serve as a milestone in the new process of resolving Boko Haram crisis in the region.
