NDLEA Files Eight-Count Criminal Charge Against DCP Abba Kyari

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as of 3rd March 2022, has slammed an eight-count criminal charge against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari and six other persons allegedly involved in the drug trafficking. The charges marked FHC/ABJ/CR/57/2022 are filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja and signed by Mr. Joseph Sunday, NDLEA Director, Prosecution and Legal Services.

The other Defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022, which the agency lodged before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, were four members of the Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, ACP Sunday J. Ubia, ASP Bawa James, Insp. Simon Agirigba and Insp. John Nuhu, as well as two alleged drug traffickers that were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne

In count one, Abba Kyari, ACP Sunday Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirigba, and Inspector John Nuhu, all of Intelligence Response Team were said to have between January 19 and 25 dealt in 17. 55 kilograms of cocaine and committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 14 (b) of the Natural Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, CAP 30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
