Police in Imo says they have arrested a man who allegedly confessed to being a financier of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). The Imo police spokesman CSP Mike Abattam in a statement disclosed that the 57 year old suspect, Boniface Okeke, is believed to have contributed N10 million in funding to IPOB. He was arrested in Obor autonomous community of Orlu LGA in connection with terrorism and attacks on security agencies and civilians.
The attacks led to the burning of many police stations and the killing of some officers.
“On interrogation, Okeke confessed to having been a facilitator and financer of IPOB/ ESN Operations in the state to the tune of N10 million while he was outside the country.
“He assisted the police in the arrest of some of their members and decimation of their camps in the state.”
