Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has promised that his administration will work towards achieving the May 29th dateline to deliver the Abuja Rail Mass Transit, ARMT. The Minister made this promise when he was touring the project site in Abuja yesterday for physical assessment. Wike boasted that he was not a pessimist, he revealed that he believes if he goes all out to achieve anything especially that he has disbursed fund, the contractors will have no excuse but to work round the clock.

Recall, during August last year, the FCT authority had announced it has awarded a N5billion rail project rehabilitation for the FCT.

The contract was awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Company Ltd, CCECC, to be delivered in 8months.

When the FCT Minister assume office, he identifies the ARMT as one of the critical project that needs to be completed and commissioned to ease the live of the Nigerian populace, and has vowed to complete the project for Mr. president to commission it when he will mark his one year in office.

However, he expressed dissatisfaction over the continued vandalisation of the rail properties by criminal elements.
He said, “This the project am so compassionate about, and you know that Mr. president has given me a directive that must not be taken for granted.

“When we first visit the metro station, i discovered that there were many security lapses.

“i remember when i first come after our inauguration, i did say that we will have to work on the issue of security by putting fence around the metro station to fend off criminal.

“This is my first time hearing this, and we are going to take it up immediately to see that the fence is put in place, because you can’t talk of operation, when you have not talked of security issues.”

However, Wike lament that even after engaging a security company for the work, vandals have continue to find their way into the facility.

He warned that henceforth there will be no room for excuses as the vandalisation has to stop; saying is going to be disaster to his office if after some years in office the work continues to linger.

Meanwhile, he reiterated his commitment to complete the project for commissioning for the may 29th, 2024 by Mr. President
