Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe donated $1m to the African Union (AU) Foundation to help end the "donor dependency syndrome" he said on Monday. President Mugabe had to auction 300 cattle from his herd worth $1m (N361,000,000.00) to raise money for the African Union (AU), and made donation of the money at the opening of the AU Heads of State Summit at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Health Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo declared an end to the country’s Ebola outbreak. The two-month Ebola outbreak officially over on Saturday after 42 days without recording a new case of the disease. Four out of the eight infected died from the disease.

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, has donated $1 million to the African Union (AU), hoping to set an example for African countries to finance AU programs and wean it off funding from outside donors.

The former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, has joined `The Elders,’ a group of independent global leaders founded by the late Nelson Mandela. Kofi Annan, Ban’s predecessor at the UN and chairman of the group, welcomed the former South Korean diplomat to the group on Friday in New York. The group brings together global leaders who no longer hold public office.
