Renowned United States rapper, Jay Z has said he cried when his mother sat him down and told him that she was a lesbian.
The rap icon who was a guest at David Letterman's "My Next Guest Needs no Introduction with David Letterman," said he cried because he was very happy for her.
Speaking, he said
"Imagine living your life as somebody else, right? And you think you are protecting your kids and for my mother, she had to live as someone she wasn't and hide and protect her kids, didn't want to embarrass her kids for all this time, for her to sit in front of me and tell me I love someone, I really cried, I cried because I was so happy for her that she was happy," he added.
Jay Z went on to say that even though she was a bit conservative about it, she still went ahead and told him which made him do what he hardly does, which is crying. He also talked about him writing a song about his mother's coming out the following day titled 'Smile.'
Jay Z will be having a worldwide tour with wife, Beyonce this year, starting from June. The power couple was spotted in Jamaica recently shooting a video content that will be used for their upcoming On the Run II Tour.
