Nollywood motion pictures have dominated nominations for the 2017 Africa Movie Awards (AMAA).
In the list released by Swiss filmmaker and leader of the Jury for the awards, Bernie Goldblat, Nigerian movies got 43 out of the total 136 nominations in competitive categories.
The movie, “93 Days” topped overall nominations by a single entry with 7 categories in Achievement in Soundtrack, Achievement in Sound, Best Nigerian Movie, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Director and Best Film.
Another Nigerian movie, “76” made it to the nominations for the Best Film Award, with “Call Me Thief” and “Vaya” (South Africa), “The Last of Us” (Tunisia), “A Mile in Shoe” (Morocco), “Queen of Katwe” (Uganda), “Félicité” (Senegal) and “Wulu” (Mali), completing the nominations.
The 13th edition of the AMAA will on 18 June, 2017 at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu Lagos. The event has been co-opted by the Lagos State Government as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the State.
