Border Closure: Inflation Rate Hits 11.24% - NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has on Tuesday disclosed that the Consumer Price Index which is its tool being used by the agency to measure inflation rate has indicated a rising to the tone of 11.24 percent in September.

The 11.24 percent statistically represent a positive increase amounting to 0.22 percent as against the previous month of August.

 

According to the agency, the total shutdown of the land border is responsible for the increase in the inflation figure, saying the prices of food commodity especially has been on the increase since the federal government closed down Nigerian land border with its neighbouring countries in the last two months.
