First Batch Of Super Tucano Fighter Jets Arrives Nigeria

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday said the first batch of A-29 Super Tucano fighter aircraft procured from the US has arrived at Kano. Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information confirmed the arrival of the fighter aircraft in a statement in Abuja. Gabkwet said, “On hand to receive the aircraft were the Hon. Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd), Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao”

Sunday Igboho’s Extradition Hearing To Hold Today In Benin

The Court hearing on the extradition of the self-proclaimed Yoruba nation freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo better known as Sunday Igboho would hold on Thursday (today) in Benin Republic. This was disclosed on Thursday morning by the activist’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki during a live update. According to him, “The sitting will be held at 10 am in the morning at the Benin Republic court. “I can confirm, he will have the opportunity to be heard at the Benin Republic court, they respect international law. 100 Kidnapped Victims Regains Freedom In Zamfara

Zamfara state police command has disclosed to the public that it has carried out a successful security operation in the state which saw about 100 kidnapped victims regaining their freedom from bandits at Kabaro forest in Maru Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. Police spokesperson, Muhammad Shehu, who made this disclosure a statement in Gusau, the state capital, on Tuesday stated that the victims, mostly women, and children who were kidnapped on June 8 would have to undergo medical checks before being reunited with their families

Kano State Gov. Pardons 136 Inmates

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has pardoned 136 inmates as part of measures to decongest the correctional centres in the state. On granting the pardon, Ganduje stated that some of the inmates either have ill-health or they have stayed longer than necessary. He then went on to task the inmates to be people of sound character when they are finally reintegrated into society. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abba Anwar, who made this disclosure via a statement on Wednesday stated that the governor took the decision when he visited Goron-dutse Medium Correctional Centre on Tuesday.

Self-Acclaimed Yoruba Freedom Fighter, Sunday Igboho Nabbed In Cotonou

Self-proclaimed Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested on Monday night in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives. Igboho was arrested at an airport in Cotonou while attempting to flee to Germany. The Department of State Services (DSS) declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, a few weeks ago. Earlier, at a press conference where weapons found in Igboho’s house were displayed, the DSS vowed that the vocal separatist would be apprehended. Dr. Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesman, said Igboho may run and hide as long as he wants, “the end of his shenanigans” was certain.
