The Federal Government on Tuesday, inaugurated a committee to articulate strategies for teaching Mathematics and Science subjects in local languages.
The plan, according to the Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, is in keeping with global best practices.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu has inaugurated a committee comprising the ministries of science and technology; and education, to work out the strategies for the teaching of Mathematics and Science subjects in local languages.
The Minister stated that the committee is expected to map out ways of developing science textbooks in Nigerian languages and train teachers that would take students in these subjects in the various local languages.
He averred that world over, nations that have developed in mathematics and sciences are those who taught students in their local languages.
