President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday launched the National Monitoring and Evaluation mobile App, EYE MARK, and a website www.eyemark.ng shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to the President, it will foster citizens’ participation in governance, adding that the Federal Government would no longer be dependent on its monitoring and evaluation teams to oversee the large amount of infrastructure projects nationwide.

He said, “The Eyemark application tackles 2 major constraints we have faced as a country in our monitoring and evaluation efforts.

“Eyemark introduces a digital approach to monitoring and evaluation in the Federal Government that gives MDAs the ability to harness geospatial and project implementation data on a continuous basis.

“Furthermore, the constraint of limited monitoring and evaluation personnel is addressed by utilizing a bottom-up approach through crowdsourcing geotagged data from Nigerians in every part of the country.

“The status of projects, total amount appropriated and dispensed so far are now available in the public space.”

He said it would ensure citizens can give feedback and reviews in real-time about projects around them.

President Buhari also urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to collaborate with the coordinating ministry, the Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning to provide the necessary information on current and future projects for compilation.
