TikTok Developer ByteDance Launches e-payment Service

TikTok owner, ByteDance has announced the launch of an electronic payment service connected to Douyin, the popular short video app. The e-payment called ‘Douyin Pay’ is aimed to “supplement existing major payment options, and to ultimately enhance user experience”, functioning similarly to the Chinese e-wallet, WeChat Pay and Alipay.

According to ByteDance, Users will be able to connect their bank accounts to the payment service, and also serve as a mode of payment for influencers and content creators.

Douyin listed about 600 million active users last year with daily growth from its short video, Livestream, and e-commerce.
