Facebook social network has revealed that it is building a tool which will allow users see whether they had followed now-deleted propaganda pages made by the Russia-based Internet Research Agency.

The tool will be ready for launch in December.

The social network has earlier revealed that about 126 million Americans may have viewed content uploaded by Russia-based agents over the past two years.

The Agency was responsible for posting thousands of politically-charged messages to spread propaganda during the US Presidential election, on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Most of the pages were made to appear like they were made by patriotic US citizens, such pages include Heart Of Texas, among others.

In November 2016, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg stressed how a crazy idea it was to suggest misinformation spread on social media network in a bid to influence the US presidential election.

Since then, facebook has identified thousands of posts and paid advertisements placed by Russia-based operatives.

It has also suffered massive criticism for allowing propaganda and fake news to spread on its platform which took too long to address.

However, Russia has continually denied allegations that it attempted to influence the last US presidential election, in which Donald Trump emerged winner.

Facebook said in a blog how significant it is for people to understand how foreign actors attempt to sow division and mistrust using Facebook before and after the 2016 US election.

"This is why, as we have discovered such information, we have continually come forward to share it publicly and have provided it to congressional investigators"
