The US multinational tech giant, Google released an update for Chrome (99.0.4844.84) for Windows, Mac, and Linux users to address a high-severity zero-day bug.
Zero-day is a weakness in Chrome’s JavaScript engine that can be exploited by hackers to inject their code into a user’s browser.
An anonymous security researcher reported the bug on March 23, 2022.
Google said, “Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.”
The updated version is already rolling out globally in the stable desktop channel and it would be released to Google’s entire user base over the next few days/weeks.
Google urged its users to update their Chrome browser as soon as possible to prevent attacks from hackers.
