US cybersecurity titan NortonLifeLock is set to buy its Czech Republic rival, Avast for over $8 billion (6.7 billion euros). This was announced in a joint statement by both companies on Wednesday.
Norton Chief Executive, Vincent Pilette said, “The deal is a huge step forward for consumer cyber safety and will ultimately enable us to achieve our vision to protect and empower people to live their digital lives safely.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of Avast, Ondrej Vlcek said the merger would provide improved solutions and services to about 500 million users.
Pilette would become the chief executive of the expanded group while Vleck would be president of NortonLifeLock and also become a member of the NortonLifeLock board.
