WhatsApp is rolling its much anticipated ‘view once’ message feature on Android, allowing users to send photos and videos that can be viewed once and disappear immediately, similar to the expiring media message on Snapchat. The feature once it goes live will have a clock-like icon next to the “add a caption” bar to select which users can send view once photos and videos to their contacts.

According to WhatsApp, the feature once viewed will allow the sender to verify if the recipient has opened the media even if a user’s read receipts are disabled, however, the sender will not be able to see the time the recipient opened the media. Also, users can see when group participants open the view once media in a group.

The new feature, unlike Snapchat allows users to have control of the expiring photos, either turning it on or off.

Other features set to be rolled out by WhatsApp include multi-device support with end-to-end encryption, allowing a user log in to a single WhatsApp account on multiple devices.

The feature will be available on Android only, while iOS will follow later.
