MTN Group has announced the appointment of former Vodacom CEO, Yolanda Cuba as its new Group Chief Digital and Fintech Officer and also introduced a new recharge card loading code for its Nigerian customers. The new recharge card loading code of MTN Nigeria is *3551*pin# as against the *555*pin#.
The telecom company has been speculated to have made the changes in efforts to upgrade the system, a change in a partnership deal with recharge card producers, use of same loading pattern by other telecom companies as well as reduce recharge card fraudulent activities like hacking.
Yolanda Cuba will lead the MTN’s strategic expansion of its financial services and digital solutions efforts and transformation into a digital operator.
Speaking on her appointment, she said: “This role gives me the opportunity to drive digital innovation and financial inclusion across the Group’s vast footprint. I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and being part of the MTN leadership team.”
The new member of the MTN Group has served as an executive in different capacities, at Vodacom she was CEO of Strategy and M&A, and also served as CEO of Vodafone Ghana and earned the 2018 award for the Telecom CEO of the Year.
Cuba is expected to join the Company’s Executive Committee and will report directly to The Group CEO, Rob Shuter.
