Nigeria Finishes Third Overall In World U20 Athletics Championships

Team Nigeria won a total of seven medals at the just concluded U20 Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday. The country’s team won four gold and three bronze medals, finishing third overall on the final medal table, while host nation, Kenya finished at first place with eight gold, one silver, and seven Bronze and Finland in second place with four gold and one silver.


The quartet of Praise Ofoku, Favour Ofili, Anita Traviore, and Tima Seikeseye GodBless in the women’s team returned a time of 43.90 seconds behind Jamaica and Namibia who won Gold and silver respectively.


However, the Nigerian men’s team did not finish in the medal zone during the 4x400m race, coming fourth place after Botswana, Jamaica, and Kenya in that order.


Nigeria’S Ezekiel Nathaniel posted a new personal best time with 49.89 secs in the 400m hurdle, finishing at fourth position behind Jamaica and Turkey with Bronze, Silver, and Gold in that order.
